What it is, and what it is not
llms.txt is a proposed standard, described at llmstxt.org: a Markdown file at yourbusiness.com/llms.txt with your name, a one-line summary and links to your key pages. It is easy to add and does no harm.
Be clear about what it does not do. No AI assistant has promised to rank or recommend a site because it has an llms.txt, and support varies from tool to tool. Treat it as a tidy extra, after the things that move answers: letting AI search crawlers in, being mentioned on the pages assistants trust, and answering your buyers' questions on your own site.
How to use the draft
- Read it through. Remove pages that are not useful to a buyer and fix any summary that is out of date.
- Save it as a plain text file named
llms.txt. - Upload it to the root of your site, so it opens at
/llms.txt.
